Picnic Table Bench Adventures
Most people think that a picnic table bench is nothing more than something
for people to sit in when having a picnic or a place for kids to eat outdoors during a field trip. To be sure,
these are both very important parts of what makes a picnic table bench so lovable but this writer is willing to
talk about the underlying wonder of picnic benches that many of us foolishly overlook as we go about our daily
lives wondering about "bigger" and "better" matters.
A picnic table bench is as important to our shared cultural heritage as apple pie or the statue of liberty.
Eating outdoors always makes food taste better whether you'd like to admit it or not. The joy of indulging in
mastication while looking at the magic that nature has to offer is an experience that has been the shaping factor
in many a young child's life for countless decades. As much as you may not want to admit it, most kids remember
fondly sitting on a picnic table at some point in their childhood.
Let's be fair to both sides, though: Not every memory spent on a picnic table bench is a wonderful one. As
wonderful as it is to sit outside and dine while admiring the beauty of the outdoors, the same nature that draws
people to having picnics can also damper the enjoyment that it brings. Things such as ants, bumblebees, and other
annoying insects can quickly ruin an outdoor affair as can more powerful forces such as storms or even strong
winds. Having a delicious potato salad and some corn on the cob while sitting near a park is wonderful but it isn't
as terrific when you have to worry about your paper plates and napkins being blown away. In spite of this, a little
planning can go a long way toward making sure that your outdoor picnic isn't completely ruined.
The first thing to do to make your picnic table bench memories worthy ones is to use metal silverware. While
many people like the disposable aspect of plastic forks and knives and paper plates and napkins, one can still use
all the disposable elements but still bring along the necessary amount of forks and knives and spoons. This will
solve the problem of things blowing away because you can simply put the forks and knives on the napkins or plates.
Once a sizable amount of food has been placed on the plates you needn't worry about them blowing away and you can
just dispose of the plates and napkins when you're done. As for bugs, all you need is a little insect repellent or
a citronella candle and you should be just fine. That's all there is to it! Now you can be free to go out, select
the perfect site, and set about creating some wonderful outdoor eating experiences that you and your loved ones
will remember for the rest of your lives.
