Should I Buy a Folding Weight Bench?

If you are new to the world of weight training, then let me be the first to offer congratulations. You've taken a bold step toward reinventing yourself into the person you've always dreamed of being. Or maybe you just want to see your dick when you take a piss. Either way, you are probably feeling bombarded right now with all the options at your disposal regarding your new hobby. Heavy weights with low reps or high reps with light weight? Dumbbell workouts or barbells? Perhaps your most pressing concern is which kind of weight bench to buy. If you've considered the purchase of a folding weight bench based on word of mouth or price, consider this information before you purchase anything.

The main draw of a folding weight bench is likely obvious from its name. A folding weight bench doesn't always collapse for easy storage. That would be called a collapsible weight bench. When a weight bench is described as "folding", it usually means that the back seat part is not welded to the frame. This allows you to change the angle of the back so that you can set it to an incline or decline. If you do not plan on taking advantage of that feature, there is really no need to stray from a fixed weight bench.

The benefits of a folding weight bench, however, make it an almost indispensable tool for the beginning bodybuilder. Essentially, you'll need to train your muscles from different angles in order to achieve the most effective workout. A standard bench press is one of the best exercises to perform, but your muscles will eventually get used to the repetitive action. At that point, performing bench presses on an incline or decline will tax your muscles further and stimulate new growth. This can't be accomplished with a fixed bench. In short, if you have the extra money, an adjustable weight bench is definitely the way to go if you intend to keep up your strength training regimen. On benches of this sort, there is also a higher likelihood that the bench will come with additional features. These usually include an attachment for your legs that allows you to perform hamstring curls and quadriceps presses.

Since benches with no adjustments are usually bare bones models, there are almost no such leg add-ons that come with these models. Preacher curl attachments are also fairly common on weight benches that can be adjusted. This contraption allows for more isolated biceps training and usually connects to the same latch that houses the leg training accessory. These are all integral parts to a continuing fitness plan and thus make the purchase for an adjustable weight bench an even more enticing option.
