Choosing an Entry Way Bench

An entry way bench is a great way to turn a ho-hum, nothing special room into something classy and beautiful. Put simply, an entry way bench is a versatile tool that allows you to store certain things that may otherwise be an impediment into a nice and neat area. In addition, "entryways" help to furnish the first room in your house by complementing the surrounding furniture with a similar style that melds form and function. The final appeal of an entryway is its ability to act as a bench in its own right: An entry way bench becomes a perfect place to sit at when lounging around.

When choosing which type of entry way bench is right for you, it is important to think about the furniture that makes up the room that you're considering putting the bench in. Look at the bookshelf, dressers, or entertainment center that may be in the room you're considering. Are they all of a similar type wood or are they all a matching color? If so, you should think about getting an entryway that allows you to keep up the theme of the room. If the room is heavy with drapes or a certain color scheme on the wall you will also want to take them into consideration when choosing the layout for your entry way bench. Another thing you'll want to consider is the size of the entryway. Anything too large may be an imposition when it is placed in a room with furniture that isn't as lavish or sizable. On the other hand, a mediocre and inexpensive entryway looks rather paltry when it is in the same room as more pricey and beautiful fare.

Once you decide on the entry way bench of your choice you will need to determine where exactly you will put it in the room that you've settled on. Many people like to put their entry way benches below a window. That way, you can sit in front of a window on a beautiful day and then sip coffee or read a book while lounging in comfort. Unfortunately, not all entryways are made tall enough or wide enough to be placed under a window and the windowsill often gets in the way in many occasions. Try envisioning an alternate room where you could conceivably put anything you want anywhere you want and see where your entryway fits into that scheme. You can basically choose any location in any room that you want because it is your property in your home but remember that you're buying an entryway as much for yourself as for others. One final caveat: No matter what you do, try to avoid putting an entryway in a corner. It just never works out very well. Other than that, you can be sure that your entry way bench will be a wonderful compliment to your room no matter where you decide to place it.
